So to my recent knowledge, Tide detergent doesn't leave my clothes smelling or feeling very 'fresh'. Not only do I now know this from first hand experience, but I also found some interesting info online about how Tide does not cut dirt and bacteria on clothing and towels, leaving a musty and almost sour scent. GROSS
This has only happened when I use Tide brand detergent, not any other brand.
We have some really thick high quality bath towels... and of course I want them to last us a long time! Plus I love the color of them, dark taupe. There are times where I feel like after washing them they are not very clean... not very fresh smelling. I starting adding baking soda along with my detergent to see if it helped at all, and it did some. This also happened a few times when I washed work out clothes that were super sweaty and gross from the gym.
I knew something wasn't right though, and that is when I started looking online to find if anyone else had a similar experience.
This site has some interesting stuff regarding Tide
Anyway, they say there are a few reasons why this can happen... but I started using different detergents and haven't had any more issues! I really like Arm&Hammer. Now we have a he washer so I have been experimenting so we will see what happens. Keep it 'fresh'!!!!!!
I really appreciate this post because I've been noticing the same thing. I used Up & Up (Target brand bc I'm cheap) Lavender and it has helped. Tide is always very harsh on clothing- especially work out clothes with elastic in them. Maybe I'll try Arm & Hammer next. Thanks for the info housewife :)
